The mission of the Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs is two-fold. Ecumenically, the office seeks to promote greater unity in the Christian Church, particularly through shared prayer, theological dialogue, and common witness between Catholics and Christians of other denominations. Interreligiously, the office seeks to promote greater mutual understanding between Catholics and members of other non-Christian religious traditions.

In all its endeavors, the work of the office is conducted working closely with the Archbishop.

What the Office Does
The Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs represents the Archdiocese of Hartford in general and the Archbishop in particular in relationships with Christians of other denominations and members of non-Christian religious traditions.

Both the Ecumenical Officer and the Director of Interreligious Affairs make themselves available, as possible, as resources to the people of the Archdiocese as a whole with regard to ecumenical and interreligious matters.
