10th Annual Bishop Peter Rosazza Social Justice Conference Saturday, June 8th 2019 9:00-3:00pm (Registration 8:00-8:45pm) Pastoral Center (St. Thomas Seminary), Bloomfield Sponsored by the Office for Catholic Social Justice Ministry of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Office for Catholic Social Justice Ministry will be hosting its 10th Annual Bishop Peter Rosazza Social Justice Conference on Saturday June 8th at the Pastoral Center in Bloomfield. This year’s theme is “Rooted in Faith: Reimagining Charity,” challenging parish leaders to move beyond charitable works towards more lasting impact through works of social justice.  Can our well-intentioned efforts do more harm than good? How can we assess our ministries so that they are truly empowering people to live in dignity? The keynote speaker this year is Dr. Shawn Duncan, Director of the Lupton Center at Focused Community Strategies in Atlanta, GA. Mass will be offered as part of the day with Bishop Peter Rosazza as the main celebrant. Workshops will highlight the social justice foot of parish social ministry – community organizing, legislative advocacy, assessing the impact of charitable works, prayer and action, and much more! Workshops will be offered both in English and Spanish, with simultaneous translation available for the keynote and Spanish workshops. The closing will feature a cultural performance by the Caribbean American Dance Company. Registration (deadline May 29th) available at www.catholicsocialjustice.org or (860) 242-5573 ext. 2688.
