Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In proclaiming a Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis reminded us that “God forgives all, and God forgives always.” Having received mercy, we are challenged by the Jubilee Year to be agents of mercy by reaching out with the love of Christ to those in our midst who suffer spiritually, morally and materially.
This year the Church will open her doors wide to welcome all those who are in any kind of need or suffering of body, mind and spirit. I invite all the members of the Archdiocese of Hartford to rise to the occasion by being generous with their time, talent and treasure, so that what are traditionally known as the “corporal and spiritual works of mercy” can be put into practice to an even greater degree in our local communities. I do so in particular on behalf of the thousands of men, women and children who benefit directly from the generosity of the Catholic people to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal.
Please help those in need by participating generously in this year’s Appeal under the banner of God’s Mercy at Work. This website illustrates how our generosity, individually and collectively, contributes to being “merciful as the Father is merciful.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, S.T.D.
Archbishop of Hartford
