My Emmaus Formation Program

Belief is placing trust or confidence in another; accepting a conviction as true, especially a particular tenet or a body of tenets accepted by a group of persons. Believing is to have faith, confidence or trust (e.g. religious faith); to have confidence in the truth or value of something: we believe in…

This first activity focuses on belief as a conviction – something you accept as true and have faith and confidence and trust in.

If you were asked to give an “elevator speech” (3 minutes) that presents what you believe, what would you say? You can prepare your “speech” in short sentences or phrases, e.g. start with I believe…, and finish the sentence. Try to write at least six statements. Record your statements in your journal, in the worksheet on page 3 of the Downloadable Guide or download this Word Document to record your statements digitally.

Review your list and ask what difference each “I Believe” statement makes in your daily life.
