Reverend Nicholas John Cesaro, Class of 1954, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021. We extend our deepest sympathy to Fr. Cesaro’s family and friends at this time of loss and offer them our prayerful support.
- The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair will be the principal celebrant at a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford, on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will take place in the church prior to the beginning of the Funeral Mass.

Reverend Nicholas John Cesaro – Clergy Bio
Born in Torrington, Connecticut, Reverend Nicholas John Cesaro entered Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield in 1946 and then proceeded to continue his philosophy and theology studies at St. Bernard’s Seminary in Rochester, New York. He was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend John F. Hackett at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford on May 27, 1954. Fr. Cesaro’s early priestly ministry included assignments as Assistant Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes in Waterbury, Instructor at Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Pro-Synodal Judge of the Archdiocesan Metropolitan Tribunal, and Assistant Pastor at Saint Augustine Church in Hartford. In 1988, Fr. Cesaro was named Temporary Administrator and then Pastor of Saint Augustine Church, and he would remain in service to that community until his retirement from active ministry in 2004.
