Monday, September 19, 2022 is the Feast Day of Our Lady of La Salette, the Reconciler of Sinners. A special Mass will be celebrated on that day in both English and Spanish. The homilist for the Mass is The Most Rev. Peter Rosazza, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Mass will conclude with the traditional candlelight procession to the outside shrine of Our Lady of La Salette.

The Virgin Mary appeared at La Salette, France (at an elevation of 6000′ in the French Alps) on September 19, 1846. In 1851 the Bishop of Grenoble, France declared this apparition worthy of belief and authorized devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of “Our Lady of La Salette.” The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette were welcomed to the the Diocese of Hartford in 1892. The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette have ministered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church since its elevation to the status of a parish. Previously, Our Lady of Sorrows had been a mission of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph.
