Reverend John James Keane, Class of 1962, died Thursday, August 20, 2020. We extend our deepest sympathy to Fr. Keane’s family and friends at this time of loss.

Reverend John James Keane – Clergy Bio
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Reverend John James Keane began his seminary education for the Archdiocese of Hartford at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. He then went on to complete his philosophy studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore and his theological studies at the Catholic University of America and Theological College in Washington, DC. At the conclusion of his seminary formation, he was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend Henry J. O’Brien at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford on May 31, 1962. Fr. Keane’s first priesthood assignments were as an assistant at St. Pius X Church in Wolcott and Immaculate Conception Church in Hartford. He would additionally serve as an assistant at Our Lady of Victory Church in West Haven, St. Joseph Church in New Haven, and St. Ann Church in Avon. In 1981, he became a pastor for the first time, leading the parish community at Sacred Heart Church in Waterbury. He would then serve as pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in New Haven for several years before being given the additional role of administrator at St. Ann Church in Hamden. Fr. Keane worked in those parishes until his retirement in 2011.
