The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation Displays Corvette at Kick-off Reception on May 9th HARTFORD, Conn. (April 20, 2017) - The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation (HBF) will host a “Corvette Raffle Cocktail Reception” at Blasius Chevrolet, 90 Scott Road, Waterbury, on Tuesday, May 9th at 7 p.m. On display will be the 2017 red Corvette, which is being donated by Blasius Chevrolet, and raffled to benefit Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The winner of the Corvette will be announced at the Foundation’s second annual gala to be held on Saturday, November 18th, at the Aria in Prospect. Fritz Blasius, owner of the car dealership, says he is excited to donate the Corvette, because it is for a great cause. “Parochial school education has been an integral part of the fabric of life in the Waterbury area for many decades, says Blasius. “This important fundraiser will be instrumental in providing the needed funds to ensure that it continues to be so." Raffle tickets for the Corvette are $10 each and can be purchased at the reception, or in advance by contacting Suzanne Feola at: 860-913-2668 or by email: hbfcarraffle@aohct.org. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served at the complimentary reception, but an RSVP is required by contacting Feola by Monday, May 1st. The goal of the HBF is to ensure that the mission of the Archdiocese is fulfilled and its vision realized. At its first annual gala, the foundation raised over $770,000, which is going towards much needed structural repairs at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, the Mother Church of the Archdiocese, which is located in Hartford. The Archdiocese of Hartford created the foundation to strengthen the local church’s ties to business, government and community leaders in a common effort to improve the lives of people who live in Hartford, New Haven and Litchfield counties. The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation has recruited 33 board members to date, including General Chair Jim C. Smith, chairman and CEO of Webster Financial Corporation and Webster Bank, and Chairs James P. Torgerson, CEO Avangrid, Inc. and James M. Loree, president and CEO, StanleyBlack&Decker.
