On the occasion of President Biden’s inauguration as our new President, my own thoughts and sentiments are those that have been expressed by the President of our U.S. Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop José Gomez. With regard to our archdiocese, in addition to the prayers that are regularly offered at Mass for government leaders and civil society, I invite all of our parishes to include a petition like the following:
“For all government leaders, including those who profess our Catholic faith, that they may uphold a just and moral social order and the dignity and rights of every human person from conception until natural death, let us pray to the Lord.”

“Por todos los líderes gubernamentales, incluidos los que profesan nuestra fe católica, para que mantengan un orden social justo y moral, y la dignidad y los derechos de toda persona humana desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural, roguemos al Señor .”
