Overview
The Archdiocese of Hartford is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Property and Assets to oversee the management, development, and stewardship of all property and fixed assets across Archdiocesan entities. This individual will align all activities with the Archdiocese’s vision and priorities, ensuring sound property management within the unique context of both civil and canon law.
The Director plays a critical leadership role in determining the most effective strategies for the use, lease, sale, demolition, or development of property in support of long-term Archdiocesan goals. This includes working closely with clergy, administrators, legal advisors, and external partners to implement best practices in real estate, capital planning, and facilities operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and management of all Archdiocesan real estate and physical assets.
- Oversee the facilities at the St. Thomas Seminary and the Cathedral of St. Joseph campuses.
- Provide advisory services to pastors and administrators on real estate transactions, property upkeep, and asset utilization.
- Implement project management practices to ensure successful completion of property-related initiatives.
- Support the development and delivery of training for pastors and staff on capital planning, budgeting, and preventive maintenance.
- Work in partnership with brokers and other insurers to proactively manage risk and ensure property compliance and safety.
- Champion environmentally responsible practices and energy conservation across Archdiocesan properties.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of progressive managerial experience.
- At least 5 years in commercial property management (preferred).
- Experience working in a non-profit and/or religious organization (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church and its teachings.
- CT State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
