Merton on the Invitation to Non-Violence will be presented by Mike Smoolca at Our Lady of Calvary Retreat Center, Farmington, on Wednesday May 27, 2020 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Thomas Merton’s contemplative journey led him to deep spiritual insights which he applied to the pressing social issues of his time. For Merton the roots of violence lie in a denial of our common human condition, our basic unity. It is not a matter of converting the wicked but of healing and reconciliation with self, others and the whole human family.
Mike Smoolca is a practicing spiritual director, a leader in the area’s Christian Contemplative Community, and active in several ministries in his parish, St. Mary’s in Simsbury.
Cost of program is $25. Register by phone at 860-677-8519; online at OurLadyofCalvary.net; or by mail at Our Lady of Calvary Retreat Center, 31 Colton St., Farmington, CT 06032.
