On August 1, 2020, the Parish of Saint Bernadette in New Haven, and the Parish of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina in East Haven, will be merged in accordance with canon 515 §2, forming one new Parish that will be known as “Saint Pio of Pietrelcina”.  Saint Bernadette Parish will cease to exist as a separate juridic entity.  On July 6, 2020, Archbishop Leonard P. Blair issued a decree creating the merger according to the provisions of Church law.  The Saint Bernadette Church building will remain as a sacred place of worship.

The substance of the decree is to be communicated to parishioners at the aforementioned parish, including the display in appropriate places so that parishioners can read it as they enter or exit the churches. It will also be published in the Catholic Transcript (see https://archdioceseofhartford.org/catholictranscript/), and shall be available on the website, http://www.stewardsfortomorrow.org/.  Canonical recourse may be made within the peremptory time limit of ten (10) days from the legitimate notification of the decree and in accordance with the norm of law (c. 1734 §2).
