In line with our mission, we provide parishes property management advisory services in the areas of preventive maintenance, capital planning and budgeting, property condition assessment, and project management.

Property management is defined as the operation, control, maintenance, and oversight of real estate and physical property.  This key activity harnesses the processes, systems, and manpower required to manage the life cycle of all property.  Phases of this cycle include the traditional sequence of acquisition, control, accountability, responsibility, maintenance, utilization, and disposition.

A Parish Building and Grounds Committee is a key component of a successful property management program.  This group prioritizes and presents needs as part of capital improvements and identifies any situation requiring the immediate action of the finance council.  You will also want to take care in selecting staff with the varied skills needed to manage your parish campus.  Types of positions include custodian, facilities manager, maintenance worker, and plant manager.

Currently DPA manages all Archdiocese-owned properties.  We also offer direct property management to parishes as requested.  These services involve a support services agreement and incur an appropriate fee.

Pastors will find a typical framework for a Building and Grounds Committee in the priest’s portal.
