Communications & Public Relations

The Office of Communications and Public Relations is responsible for all internal and external communications initiatives. As our world grows ever more connected through technology, it is important that the Catholic Church adapt to such technology for the purposes of evangelizing and staying in touch with the local faithful. One of the ways this is accomplished is by maintaining active presences across social media platforms and outfitting those platforms with a variety of original content meant to engage, inspire, and inform. This content can include videos, podcasts, photos, and other timely multimedia to be shared in spaces where people are already spending their online time. The Office believes in creating and distributing high quality content that will inspire social media users to share the good news of our faith, not merely consume it (which is also important). 

In addition to creating and sharing content in the virtual realm, the Office also produces the Catholic Transcript magazine that is shared with every registered household in the Archdiocese. This magazine is filled with witness stories of God’s love, as well as coverage of major events in the Archdiocese.

Advertising and promotions are an important part of this Office’s responsibilities. The staff will often design and purchase advertising through a variety of media including billboards, magazines, newspapers, and radio.

Internally, this Office is also responsible for creating and distributing Parish Mail, a weekly newsletter that keeps pastors, parishes, and employees informed on the latest information from the Archdiocese.

On the Public Relations end, the Office is responsible for distributing press releases to the media and fielding inquiries from reporters. This may include over-the-phone or emailed statements, or the facilitation of in-person interviews for local news outlets and the occasional press conference for more significant events.
