Catholic Schools: Celebrating our Schools Accreditation & Recognition

All of the elementary, middle and high schools of the Archdiocese of Hartford are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), a prestigious accrediting agency that sanctions such esteemed New England institutions as Harvard and Yale Universities. The process schools undergo to be accredited is an arduous one that includes a detailed self study, intensive peer review and timely responses to recommendations for improvement. Archdiocesan schools meet or exceed the demanding standards set by NEASC and understand that association with the independent schools of this organization deepens their commitment to excellence in education.

Visit the New England Association of Schools and Colleges for more information.

2025 Summa Award Recipients

The purpose of the Summa award is for educational leaders to personally recognize the students who have committed exceptional time, energy, and care in the pursuit of superior academic achievement.  The summa scholar represents the top 5% of his or her graduating class in terms of outstanding academic achievement from freshman year to the close of the first semester of senior year, based on their cumulative grade point average (GPA).

As each Summa Scholar is presented they will have the opportunity to recognize their honored teacher and speak for one to two minutes about how this teacher inspired them along their academic journey and made a significant impression on their academic success.

National Blue Ribbon Schools

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and non-public elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where students are making significant gains in academic achievement. A vital part of the U.S. Department of Education, the program identifies and disseminates knowledge about effective school leadership and instructional practices. The award is both a high aspiration and a potent resource of practitioner knowledge (U.S. Department of Education).

The following schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford have been recognized as “Exemplary High Performing” and are among the highest performing schools in the nation, as measured by nationally-normed tests (over the past twenty years):
